Postponed Due To Rising Covid Numbers . . . Countywide Health Fair To Be rescheduled

September 08, 2021

The plan was to celebrate good health on Saturday, September 11th, 2021 the Washington County Health Fair, its 27th Anniversary. ‘Remembering’ is this year’s theme. The Annual Health Fair was not only to honor the memory of those lost on 9-11 but also to recognize Overdose Awareness Week.
The County’s Emergency Services and Veterans were to be recognized as they represent the ‘front line’ of those who serve and protect the public. The 9-11 Memorial Service will now be planned for outside at the Washington County Courthouse.

The Washington County Memorial Hospital, Great Mines Health Center, Washington County Ambulance District, Washington County Partnership and the Washington County Health Department have been meeting and planning an interactive and fun filled health fair; however due to the rise in positive Covid cases, the decision was made to postpone the Health Fair for the time being.

The Health Fair is a free event that focuses on health care opportunities and health care providers that are available in Washington County. Many times, there is no reason to leave the community to meet your health care needs. This is a chance to bring many of these local services to light in our county.

The organizers encourage everyone to continue safe health practices and observe the social distance method of ‘safe space’ as well as hand washing, covering your mouth and noose when you cough or sneeze and using hand sanitizer as well.

The Covid vaccine is available at a number of resources:

Washington County Health Department on Purcell Drive; 438-2164.

Pharmax Pharmacy on High Street; 438-2189.

Walmart Pharmacy on Memorial Drive; 438-5441.

Great Mines Health Center on Southtowne Drive; 438-9355.

If any individual wants to find out more about a vaccine, a vaccination or an appointment, please talk to one of these providers or your physician.

There has been a recent spike in positive cases and caution is the best form of safety to prevent unnecessary exposure. Therefore, the Health Fair, which so many people do enjoy, will be rescheduled. Please watch for details, and be healthy!
