Christine Marie Barton of Cadet was born August 8, 1938 in Old Mines, a daughter to the late Bernard Hopkins and Mary (Robart) Hopkins. Christine departed this life Monday, July 5, 2021 having reached the age of 82 years, 10 months and 27 days.

On March 13, 1954, Christine was united in marriage to the late Burgess Barton and they happily raised their children and were blessed with many years together.

Christine is survived by her sons, Joey Barton and wife Trena of Tiff, Kenny Barton and wife Becky of Irondale; daughter, Linda Boyer and husband Dennis of Old Mines; brothers, Roger Hopkins and wife Elise of Morriestown, Indiana, Cecil Hopkins of O’Fallon, Illinois, Bernard Hopkins and Ann of Old Mines; sister, Connie Minner and husband Rich of Afton; sons-in-law, Dan Schimmel of Rogers Arkansas, Tom Hahn of Festus; sister-in-law, Opal Johnston of Old Mines; brother-in-law, John Stinson and wife Connie of Oakville, Missouri.

In addition to her parents, “Goose” and “Lil”, and loving husband, “B”, Christine was preceded in death by her daughters, Teena Ann Hahn and Kathy Ann Schimmel; sister, Janet Stinson and sister-in-law, Dee Hopkins.

Christine was very kind and caring, always generously taking care of others. She enjoyed spending precious time with her family and her dog, Dude. She enjoyed the beauty of watching her hummingbirds. She had a passion for crocheting, sewing and flower gardening. She enjoyed reading books and playing cards in her spare time. She found peace in attending church and always prayed for everyone. She will be greatly missed by all the lives she touched.

Visitation for Christine was held Friday, July 9th from 4-8 P.M. at Moore Funeral Home in Potosi.

Funeral services were held Saturday July 10th at 10 A.M. at St. Joachim Catholic Church in Old Mines with Fr. Tony Dattilo officiating.

Burial and final prayers took place at St. Joachim Catholic Church Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Danny Hahn, David Hahn, Willie Boyer, Melissa Voyles, Susan Hahn, Ryan Barton, Cody Barton, Ashley Gershner, Stacey Schimmel and Josh Barton.

In lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations may be made to St. Joachim School or St. Joachim Mass Intentions.

All services were under the care and direction of Moore Funeral Home in Potosi.
