Doris Gamble

Doris Fay Gamble of Potosi was born on November 22, 1939 in Frankclay, a daughter of the late Leslie and Thelma (Briley) Wilson. Doris went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, May 23, 2021 from her home surrounded by her family having reached the age of 81 years, 6 months and a day.

On June 7, 1958, Doris was united in marriage to Charles Thomas Gamble and they shared nearly 63 years of marriage and wonderful memories together. Doris was a longtime faithful member of Potosi First Assembly of God Church. She loved the Lord with all of her heart. Doris had a passion for helping children. She was blessed to have worked for the Potosi R-3 School District alongside Mrs. Pat Nixon for many years teaching and loving numerous students. Doris enjoyed spending time with her family. From vacations to family gatherings, they all meant so much to her. Doris will be remembered as a selfless and honorable wife and mother who always had a smile, even when times were tough. She had a quiet strength and never complained. Her legacy will live on through her family.

Those who remain to celebrate her life and memory include her loving and devoted husband, Thomas Gamble; son, Jeffrey Gamble (wife, Mary); daughter, Julia Nipper (husband, Jason); three grandchildren, Matthew Thomas Gamble, Sierra Pearl Gamble, and Thomas Edward Gamble; a great-granddaughter, Mattie Rose; brother, Lester Wilson (wife, Joan); sister, Erma Beers; sister-in-law, Charlotte Gamble Berry; dear family friend, Pat Nixon.

In addition to her father and mother, Doris was united in Heaven with her infant son, Douglas Earl Gamble; son, Tony Gamble; two sisters, Bonnie Hanson and Betty Yarbrough; father-in-law and mother-in-law Rev. Ed and Claudine Gamble; two brothers-in-law, Rev. Everett Berry and Paul Yarbrough.

Visitation was held on Wednesday, May 26th from 5 to 8 p.m. at DeClue Funeral Home. Visitation resumed on Thursday from 9 to 11 a.m.

A funeral service was held on Thursday, May 27th at 11 a.m. at the DeClue Memorial Chapel.

Interment followed at Redbud Memorial Gardens. Funeral arrangements were respectfully entrusted to the care and direction of DeClue Funeral Home.
