P.H.S. Project Grad ‘21 Seeking Support For Kids

March 25, 2021

It may be the last time a high school student gets to be a kid. The annual Project Graduation program is a night of celebration that is designed to be a safe way for graduates to spend one last time together.

A large number of parents, grandparents, sponsors and friends usually get together throughout the classes Senior Year to raise money and plan the event. Not this year, for the second graduating class to face challenges, the Class of 2021 has not been able to do much of anything to celebrate and plan together.

With this in mind, retired teacher Julie Huff has taken on the task of an individual ‘Walk-a-thon’ that will go on at Potosi High School on Thursday, April 22nd. Ms. Huff will walk the halls and campus of the high school from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.; only taking a break during class change for students (and maybe lunch).

The ‘21 P.H.S. Project Grad project has sent out a letter to the community explaining the situation and seeking donations. Patrons are encouraged to ‘sponsor’ Julie’s walk or donate gift certificates or items that might be awarded on Project Grad night.

Those familiar with the community may recognize Ms. Huff walking for exercise around town. She may get a few miles in on April 22nd! It will be interesting to see how many ‘laps’ she can make at P.H.S.

To donate or sponsor, contact Deanna Mercille at P.H.S. at 438-2156 or by mail to Potosi High School; #1 Trojan Drive; Potosi, Mo. 63664; Attention: Deanna Mercille.

All support is sincerely appreciated. Project Graduation has been going on for years now and has been a safe, rewarding night for those involved. Graduation at Potosi High School has been set for Friday, May 14th, 2021. Congrats to the Grads!
