Charles Jerome “Jerry” DeClue

Charles Jerome “Jerry” DeClue of DeSoto passed away Friday, January 1, 2021 at his residence in DeSoto at the age of 80 years. He was born on February 4, 1940 in St. Louis the son of the late Charles Joseph and Verna Barbara (Sampson) DeClue. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son Charles “Jeff” DeClue, grandson Jacob Douglas, brother Larry DeClue, and a sister Ann Phillips.

Jerry proudly served his country in the Army and Army National Guard. He was retired from General Motors in Hazelwood where he had worked in the Parts Department. He was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church and was a Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus and a member of the DeSoto K of C Council 1185 where he served as the Bar Manager for 27 plus years. He as also a long-time and active member of the DeSoto City Volunteer Fire Department. In his spare time, he liked spending time outside fishing, gardening, squirrel and groundhog hunting and also enjoyed cooking and canning.

He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Jonell L.” Jonie” (Litton) DeClue of DeSoto, daughters Anita (Terry Soulon) DeClue-Brinkley of DeSoto and Kelley (Joe) Douglas of Hillsboro, sons Tim (Cindy) Hill of DeSoto and Terry (Elisha) Hill of DeSoto. Eleven grandchildren, Anisha (Bryan) Pinson of Park Hills, Andrew (Venita) Krodinger of Hawaii, Aaron Michael Hill of Imperial, Kelton Douglas of Hillsboro, Breanna (Travis Naeger) of Farmington, Emily DeClue of Festus, Miranda DeClue of Festus, Malia Hill of DeSoto, Mason Hill of DeSoto, Dylan King of St. Louis, and Taylor King of High Ridge, seven great-grandchildren, two brothers Eugene (Shelby) DeClue of Festus, and Donnie DeClue of Kentucky, a sister Betty DeClue of Kentucky, as well as numerous other relatives, dear friends and neighbors.

Visitation will be held from 5-8 P.M. on Thursday, January 7th at the Mahn Funeral Home in DeSoto. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated by Father Alexander Anderson at 10 A.M. on Friday, January 8th at St. Rose of Lima followed by Interment with full military honors at Calvary Cemetery in DeSoto. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Adopt-An Angel at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. Arrangement are under the care and direction of Mahn Funeral Home of DeSoto.
