DEE DEE BAILEY
July 09, 2025
Deatra Elizabeth Bailey, affectionately known as Dee Dee, was born on March 17, 1957, in St. Louis to the late Gerthal and Loetta Johnson. She departed this life on Friday, June 27, 2025, at the age of 68, surrounded by her devoted family in Mineral Point.
Dee Dee's career was dedicated to helping others, serving as a caregiver for many years. Initially, she worked at a nursing home in her younger years while living in St. Louis, and later opened her heart and home as a foster parent, providing love and support to children in need. Her selflessness and compassion were evident in every aspect of her life.
Her interests extended beyond her career; she cherished time spent fishing at the Boy Scout camp with her beloved husband, Charles "Bob" Bailey, and camping with her family. Dee Dee was a passionate supporter of her grandkids’ sports, never missing a game and cheering them on with pride. Her love for storytelling brought joy to those around her as she shared tales of her life experiences. In her leisure time, she enjoyed playing card games late into the night, and she had an interest in family genealogy. Additionally, she proudly served for many years as a volunteer firefighter for the Potosi Fire District.
Dee Dee is survived by her three children, Chuck Bailey and Brittany Thomlinson, Kenneth Bailey, and Deanna Bailey. She was a loving grandmother to ten grandchildren, Trevor Brewster, Charles Bailey III, Sierra Copeland, Dana Bailey, Kendra Thomlinson, Landon Thomlinson, Heath Bailey, Kenneth Bailey Jr., Hannah Eye, Logan Bailey, and Brayden Bailey, and a devoted great-grandmother to twelve great-grandchildren, Adalynn, Raylynn, Coraline, Roczen, Willow, Jaden, Zane, Klarity, Blaze, Kinley, Layla, Charleigh, Colten, and Aliyah. Dee Dee also leaves behind six siblings, Patricia Kay Gotto and her husband David, Vanessa McNail and her husband Richard, Billy Johnson, Charlie Johnson, Joshua Johnson, and Rockie Johnson, along with brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, and many special nieces, nephews, and extended family who held her close to their hearts.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Gerthal and Loetta Johnson; her devoted husband, Charles "Bob" Bailey; and her siblings, Loeta James, Len (Carol) Johnson, Robert (Connie) Johnson, Sharon (Jackie) Salsman, Clifford Johnson, Danielle Johnson, and Glen Johnson, as well as many other dear relatives.
Funeral arrangements were respectfully entrusted to the care and direction of DeClue Funeral Home.
