Janice Heifner

Janice Heifner, a loving matriarch, passed away peacefully on April 1, 2025, at the age of 81. Born on October 10, 1943 in Potosi, Janice lived a life that radiated warmth, love, and kindness. Those fortunate enough to know her experienced the true essence of compassion and generosity, as she dedicated her life to caring for others and uplifting those around her.
Janice was united in marriage to William "Bill" Heifner on June 10, 1961. Their love story spanned over 50 beautiful years until Bill's passing on October 27, 2013. Together, they created a nurturing home filled with laughter and love, forging a legacy that will forever resonate within their family.
A devoted member of St. Joachim Catholic Church, Janice found solace in her faith, and her spiritual journey was a cornerstone of her life. Sundays were especially dear to her heart, where family dinners became treasured traditions. She took immense pride in being a loving mother and grandmother, embracing the roles that provided her with immeasurable joy and comfort. She was a proud matriarch, creating cherished memories that will be carried forward by her family.
In addition to her role as a caregiver, Janice had a love for her home and garden. She found joy in sitting on her porch, waving goodbye as her loved ones departed, ensuring they knew they were cherished. Her interest in nurturing her yard reflected her spirit of care; she cultivated beauty not just in her surroundings but in the lives she touched.
Janice is survived by her devoted daughters, Linda and Patrick Province of Park Hills, Julie and Kenny Lawson of Georgetown, Indiana, Kelly and Don Matlock of Potosi, Carolyn Heifner of Potosi, and Trisha Heifner and Bob Muff of Columbia; her son, Michael and Cheyenna Heifner of Fredericktown; and her beloved siblings, Patricia Bone of Farmington, Sue and Mike Yost of Potosi,  Carol and Lonnie Brewer of DeSoto, and Nancy and Tim Dickey of Potosi. She also leaves behind her treasured brothers, Tom and Patty Roy of Potosi, Ed and Patty Roy of Potosi, and Tim and Peggy Roy of DeSoto. Janice was the proud grandmother of 14 grandchildren and great-grandmother to 17 great-grandchildren, all who will continue to carry her love in their hearts.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Anna Marie Roy and Thomas Roy, her beloved husband Bill, her brothers Ike Roy and Stanley Roy, as well as her brother-in-law Bob Bone and nephew William Roy. Each of these loved ones played a significant role in her life.
Janice's love will remain an everlasting influence in the lives of her family and friends. The impact she made through her nurturing spirit, her countless acts of kindness, and the love shared at those Sunday dinners will be remembered fondly by all who knew her. She will be dearly missed, and her legacy will live on in the smiles and stories of those she held close.
Visitation for Janice was held Friday, April 4th from 4 to 8 P.M. at Moore Funeral Home in Potosi. Visitation resumed Saturday morning from 8:30 to 10:30 A.M. at the same location. 
Funeral services were held Saturday, April 5th at 11 A.M. at St. Joachim Catholic Church in Old Mines with Father Tony Dattilo officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Michael Heifner, Pat Province, Don Matlock, Kenny Lawson, A.J. Puleo, Josh Lawson, Caden Heifner, Chase Heifner, Mat Graham, Cody Reed and Chris King. 
All service were under the care and direction of Moore Funeral Home in Potosi.
