Danny Laine Horton, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, departed this life peacefully on January 21, 2025 in St. Louis. Born on April 24, 1955 in Potosi, he was a son to the late Frank Horton and Cora (Ramo) Horton. Danny spent his life cherishing the beauty of family and nature.
Danny was united in marriage to Katherine (Roney) Horton on October 27th, 1973, sharing many wonderful memories together. Danny made a significant contribution to the railroad industry as a Track Inspector, a role that underscored his commitment to safety and service. Alongside his professional life, he enjoyed farming and loved to spend time outdoors where he found joy in fly fishing and hunting. Danny had a one-of-a-kind personality, a gruff personality, but a kind heart. He enjoyed visiting local restaurants where he could drink coffee and engage with members of his community.
The true stars of Danny’s life were his beloved children and grandchildren, David, Chris, Charley and Lainey Horton. He took immense joy in spending time with them, creating cherished memories that will be carried on through their lives.
Danny is survived by his loving wife, Katherine (Roney) Horton of Caledonia; a son, Christopher Horton, and his wife, Lori, from Blackwell; sister Linda Thomas from Belgrade; two brothers, Dennis Horton and Betty from Mountain Home, Arkansas, John Horton and Sheryl Sloan from Park Hills; sisters-in-law, Mary Ann Horton of Belgrade and Vickie Horton of Farmington.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Cora (Ramo) Horton; father, Frank Horton; son, D. David Horton; sisters Margie Rugh and Shirley Horton; brothers Jesse Horton, Donald Horton, Jimmy Horton, and William "Bill" Horton.
Danny will be remembered for his love of family, friendship, and the outdoors. His spirit will live on in the memories he created and the lives he touched.
A memorial visitation for Danny was held Saturday, January 25th from 3 to 7 P.M. at Moore Funeral Home in Potosi.
All services were under the care and direction of Moore Funeral Home in Potosi.
