POTOSI R-3 DISTRICT F.E.M.A. BUILDING GOING UP QUICKLY AT ELEMENTARY

December 17, 2020

The Potosi Elementary School has had some major construction going on during most of 2020. One of the major projects that is underway right now is the F.E.M.A. storm building that is being constructed behind the main Elementary School building. The structure will be the approximate size of a gymnasium and is built completely of precast concrete that is engineered to withstand tornado strength winds and storms. The building is being built through a F.E.M.A. grant that Potosi R-3 started about 2 years ago. The building will be used as a multi-purpose facility for the school as well as a storm shelter, and potential cooling center or warming station if needed. Building is being done by Brockmiller Construction. The precast concrete pieces are coming from Springfield, Missouri and being trucked in as they are set. The construction crew set the first corners on Monday, Dec. 14th and got the first roof beam in place by the afternoon. The project is approximately a $1.6 million dollar addition for the R-3 School District. The weather has been good for the project so far.
