October 02, 2024
James Russell Hammock of Potosi, also known by family and friends as "Jim" entered eternal rest Monday, September 16, 2024, having reached the age of 63 years. Jim was born on December 14, 1960, in St. Louis, to the late David and Erna (Burbank) Hammock.
Jim had an unforgettable personality; his family even described that personality as “boisterous.” Simply put, Jim enjoyed life, he loved to joke with anyone and everyone. He had a special place in his heart for his family, especially his grandkids to them, he was “pop.” During his working years, Jim was an over-the-road truck driver for numerous trucking companies. After coming off the road, he went to work at Jarvis Timber. When Jim wasn’t working, he enjoyed much of his time golfing with his son and brothers or simply spending time outdoors.
Jim leaves behind his wife of 41 years, Lynn Hammock; daughter, Chrystal Hammock (Dale) Winick; grandchildren: Amber (Brandon) Kallansrud, Lexie (Jeremy) Allen, Amiee Winick and fiancé Noah, Adryian Winick, Lillian Hammock, and Olivia Hammock; great-grandchildren: Leo and Zoey Kallansrud, and Aspynn Allen; siblings: David (Lydia) Hammock Jr., Dan (Tammy) Hammock, Bill (Dee Dee) Hammock, Donna Hammock Harmening and fiancé Jack; mother-in-law Hazel Hughes; daughter-in-law, Robin Hammock; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Jim is preceded in death by both parents, his son James Russell “Bo” Hammock Jr.; grandson James Dale Winick; brother Harry Hammock; and father-in-law Bill Hughes.
In celebrating Jim's life, the family invites you to Sunset Park in Festus, for a Memorial Gathering on Saturday, October 5th at 12:30 p.m. at Pavilion #18.
Funeral arrangements were respectfully entrusted to the care and direction of DeClue Funeral Home.
