Contract Awarded to Rehab Route 8 Bridge Over Union Pacific Railroad

September 11, 2024

JEFFERSON CITY – At their meeting Thursday, the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission awarded a contract to rehabilitate the Missouri Route 8 bridge over the Union Pacific Railroad in Washington County.
A $2,125,614.69 contract was awarded to S & A Equipment & Builders of Fulton, Mo. The bridge was built in 1969, and while the supporting structures are in good condition, it needs a new bridge deck to extend its life. The project will include adding drains, new bridge approaches and updated guardrail.
By contract, the earliest the contractor may begin work is Oct. 7, 2024, but the exact start date and schedule of work is not known at this time. More information about the exact construction schedule will be shared as it becomes available. Construction will be staged so that only one half of the bridge is closed at a time. Temporary signals will be in place to direct traffic.
