August 21, 2024

Bob and Juanita Purcell broke ground with Purcell Tire C.E.O. Roger Lucas and representatives from Washington County on Tuesday, Aug. 13th, 2024 at the Washington County Industrial Park in Potosi.

The ceremony officially began the project for a new building for distribution and maintenance for the Purcell Tire Company’s headquarter location in Potosi. The project has been under discussion and going through paper work involving the Purcell Company with the State of Missouri Department of Economic Development, the Washington County I.D.A. and the County Commissioners. The project has been on paper for over a year, and is now a reality with a design and plan in place.

The Purcells, Bob and Juanita, along with Roger Lucas, expressed their appreciation of the family that has developed in the Purcell Company through great employees and also the family that the community represents for all involved.

The ground breaking had great attendance with several companies, business leaders and government officials representing the many parts of a major project like the Purcell’s new venture in Potosi.

Roger Lucas, C.E.O. of Purcell Tire, said he was proud of the company and the commitment that everyone makes each day for the success and for the growth of the company.

Lucas went on to say, “We’ve got some more big news in the works, and I can’t talk about it here, but by the end of the week we’ll have even more excitement for the Purcell Tire Company.”

On Friday, Aug. 16th, 2024, Purcell Tire released the following press release with the next ‘big news’.

Purcell Tire is proud to announce the acquisition of Jack’s Tire & Oil, combining two companies dedicated to top-tier service and quality in the commercial tire market. This acquisition positions Purcell Tire as one of the top commercial tire dealers in North America.

Jack Bowen founded Jack’s Tire & Oil in Logan, Utah, in 1947. Dave Bowen took ownership in 1974, leading the company’s expansion into Utah and Idaho during the 70’s and 80’s. In 1999, the company became a Michelin Retread Technologies franchisee. Later expansions included Phoenix in 2004 and Fresno in 2010, and acquisition of A & E Tire in May 2020, which had been in business since 1986.

The integration of the 88 year old Purcell Tire with the 77 year old Jack’s Tire brings together two industry giants, combining 165 years of expertise in Commercial, OTR, Retail, Retreading, Manufacturing and Automotive Services. “We’re excited about the combination of these two companies as it brings us a strong footprint for competing in a dynamic and changing market place. It sets the table for Purcell Tire to be one of the top servicing dealers to the market,” said Roger Lucas, C.E.O., Purcell Tire.

With the addition of Jack’s 21 locations, Purcell will expand its current network across the United States with a combined 85 locations operating in 14 states while distributing product to the entire U.S. market with its O.T.R. retread operations. Purcell Tire and Service Centers will continue to deliver exceptional customer service and outstanding quality to every customer.

The Bowen family visited Purcell Tire headquarters in Potosi on Friday, Aug. 16th and met with Bob and Juanita Purcell, Roger Lucas and several members of the Purcell Tire family and ceremonially signed merger documents for the companies.

The Bowens got to visit the Purcell plant and see some of the equipment and processes for the large tires made in the Potosi headquarter facility.
