Cathy Sue (Wells) Marler

Cathy Sue (Wells) Marler was born on July 22, 1963 to the late Orville Wells and Laveda Wells Politte. Cathy left this life on November 4, 2020, having reached the age of 57 years, 3 months, and 13 days.

Cathy had two children with her former husband, William (Jake) Marler, Jr., a son, William (Jakey) Marler, III and a daughter, Samantha Marler-Tedford.

Cathy was preceded in death by her father, Orville Wells and her son, William (Jakey) Marler III.

Those who remain to mourn her passing are her daughter, Samantha (Richard) Marler-Tedford, grandson William (Liam) Marler-Tedford, mother, Laveda Wells Politte (William), sisters, Bev (Scott) Curry of Mineral Point, Mary (Steve) York of Festus, and Patricia Boland of Irondale, bonus daughter, Moriah Duncan, bonus granddaughter, Hazel Gray-Bretz, and many nieces, nephews, family members, and friends.

Cathy was a compassionate, loving, and giving person. It was important to her that others be treated with unconditional love and respect. That love is something that she taught her children to have, as well. She enjoyed being outdoors and hunting for artifacts. Cathy was a God fearing woman and took pride in her mission work, both local and abroad. She loved spending time with her family. Her grandson, Liam, was her pride and joy.

Visitation was held on Monday, November 9th from 4:30 to 8 p.m. and on Tuesday, November 10, 2020 from 9 to 11 am at DeClue Funeral Home.

A funeral service was held on Tuesday, November 10th at 11 a.m. at the DeClue Chapel, officiated by Pastor Sheldon Marler. Interment and final prayers were held at Sunset Hill Cemetery, Potosi. Honoring Cathy by serving as pallbearers were Jon Rice, Zane Rice, Kenny Mcleod, William Sanfilippo, Woody Jaycox and Randy Murphy.

Funeral arrangements were cared for by DeClue Funeral Home.
