Bessie Ruth Breakfield
Bessie Ruth Breakfield of Potosi was born on October 26, 1942 in Belgrade, a daughter to the late Harold “Pappy” and Alma (Talley) Watson. Bessie entered into eternal rest on Thursday, May 11, 2023 having reached 80 years of age. On September 12, 1959, Bessie was united in marriage to Eddie Breakfield and they shared 52 years together.
Those who remain to treasure her memory include four sons, Ted (Marsha) Breakfield, Pete (Peggy) Breakfield, Ervin (Joann) Breakfield, Mark Breakfield; two daughters, Pam (Rick) Thompson and Barbara (Jessie) Scherrer; eleven grandchildren, Lance (Brittany) Breakfield, Kristin (TJ) Strange, Erica Huitt, Courtney Thompson, Haleigh (Dominic) Larkin, Tyler Breakfield and fiance Meghan, Taylor (Colleen) Breakfield, Whitney Breakfield, Sierra Bingman, Dylan (Courtney) Bingman, and Adam (Vicki) Brinkley; many great grandchildren; five siblings, Bonnie Williams, Harvey Watson (wife, Virginia), Ethel Jarvis, Paul Watson, and Judy Wright. Bessie also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
In addition to her parents, Bessie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Eddie Ervin Breakfield; an infant son; brother, Harold Clinton Watson; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Almeda and Freddie Breakfield as well as brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
Visitation was Friday, May 12th from 5 to 8 P.M. at DeClue Funeral Home. Visitation resumed on Saturday, May 13th from 9 A.M. until the time of her funeral service at 11 A.M., held at DeClue Chapel. Bro. Dwight Petete officiated Bessie’s service. Musical selections were “Lily of the Valley” and “Unclouded Day”. Interment followed at Grassy Hollow Cemetery. DeClue Funeral Home was honored to have served the family of Ms. Bessie Breakfield.
