JoAnne Wade
JoAnne Wade of Hopewell was born on July 31, 1944 at Desloge, a daughter to the late Irvin Henry Wisdom and Audrey Mae (Smith) Wisdom. JoAnne went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, May 7, 2023, having reached the age of 78.
Those who remain to treasure her memory include her loving and devoted husband of 63 years, Rev. Robert "Boat" Wade; three children, Cheryl Hicks, James "Jamie" Wade (wife, Chris), and Alex Wade; four siblings, Dorris Gillam (husband, Kermit), Rosemary Lashley Hartley, Jackie Lashley (wife, Sandy), and Mike Wisdom (wife, Betty); two step brothers, Sonny and Ronnie Lashley. Also surviving are many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family.
JoAnne loved helping people which was a major factor in her going into social work. She served for approximately 27 years as a social worker. She served alongside her husband in ministry for approximately 50 years pastoring various churches. JoAnne could sing beautifully. One of her favorite songs was "I'm going home to watch the flowers bloom". JoAnne also loved reading. She will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew her.
Visitation was held on Thursday, May 11th from 5 to 8 p.m. at DeClue Funeral Home. Visitation resumed on Friday from 9 a.m. until the time of her funeral service at 11 a.m. held in the DeClue Chapel. Pastor Robert Thurman officiated JoAnne's service. Interment followed at Sunset Hill Cemetery. DeClue Funeral Home was honored to have served and ministered to the family of Mrs. JoAnne Wade.
