Mary Ann (Baker) DeGonia

Mary Ann (Baker) DeGonia of Potosi was born October 2, 1929 in Potosi, a daughter to the late Robert and Dora (Godat) Baker. Mary Ann departed this life Sunday, March 12, 2023 having reached the age of 93 years, 5 months and 10 days.

On July 17, 1948, Mary Ann was united in marriage to the late Vincent DeGonia and they lovingly shared 14 blessed years together. Vincent preceded Mary Ann in death on January 3, 1963.

Those left to cherish her memory include her sons, David DeGonia and wife Jeanne of Potosi, Rick DeGonia and Pam Bradley of Potosi, Jeff DeGonia and wife Christine of Cadet, Tom DeGonia and wife Brenda of Reeds Spring, Gary “Buck” DeGonia and Lisa Gillam of Potosi; daughters, Christa Andrew and husband Paul of Des Peres, Lisa Edel and husband Dave of Strafford; 17 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mary Ann was preceded in death by her brothers, John (Irene) Baker, Buryle (Dorothy) Baker, Ben (Helen) Baker, Don (Susan) Baker, Jim (Madge) Baker, Chester (Evelyn) Baker, two infant brothers, an infant sister, and great grandson, Wyatt Patrick.

Through the many trials of life Mary Ann always turned to Christ in times of need. She never let anything or anyone stand in her way. She was a proud 1947 graduate of Potosi High School and every year she helped organize the All School Reunion. For many years she owned and operated the DeGonia General Store and loved helping people. Her family was her world and being with them was her favorite place to be. She will be best remembered for her solid example of faith, love, and kindness and she will be deeply missed by all the lives she touched.

Visitation for Mary Ann was held Sunday, March 19th from 2 to 8 P.M. at Moore Funeral Home in Potosi. Visitation resumed Monday, March 20th from 8:30 to 9:30 A.M. at Moore Funeral Home in Potosi.

Funeral services were held Monday, March 20th at 10 A.M. at St. Joachim Catholic Church in Old Mines with Father Tony Dattilo officiating.

Burial and final prayers took place at St. Joachim Cemetery in Old Mines. Serving as pallbearers were Brett DeGonia, Kyle DeGonia, Stephen Andrew, Adam DeGonia, Nicholas DeGonia and Tristan DeGonia.
