Arlene Francis (Skaggs) Hawkins of Cadet was born March 17, 1934, in Huzzah, a daughter to the late Arlest “Blackie” Skaggs and Vernal (Gibson) Skaggs. Arlene departed this life Thursday, March 10, 2023, having reached the age of 88 years, 11 months and 24 days.
On June 2, 1951, Arlene was united in marriage to the late William “Bill” Hawkins and they were blessed to share 59 wonderful years together.
Arlene is survived by her daughters, Kathy Wilson, Roxann Rook, Debbie Adams; sons, Donnie Hawkins and wife Vicki, Rob Hawkins and wife Alice, William “Chip” Hawkins and wife Brandy, Steve Hawkins; brother, Mike Skaggs and wife Jan; brother-in-law, Robert “Bob” Pyatt; nine grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, and many other dear friends and family who will miss her deeply.
In addition to her parents and loving husband, Arlene was preceded in death by her son, Ronnie Hawkins, sisters, Jackie (Skaggs) Keller, JoAnn Ballard; brother, Robert “Bob” Skaggs; sons-in-law, Tim Adams, Gary Rook and Larry Wilson, sisters-in-law, Bertha Barclay, Norma Pyatt; brother-in-law, Jack Barclay and in-laws, Tim Hawkins and Altha (Scott) Hawkins.
Arlene was a kindhearted individual who always put her family first. She enjoyed spending time making fond memories with her children, and grandchildren. Arlene also enjoyed traveling throughout the United States while taking in the beauty of her great country. She expressed her creativity through her crafts including quilting and needle work. Arlene also enjoyed watching Dylan Coleman play baseball, playing cards, yard sales, auctions, and antique shopping. Arlene blessed so many with her love and presence throughout her life and she will surely be missed by all of those who had the opportunity to know and love her.
Visitation for Arlene was held Tuesday, March 14th from 11 A.M. to 2 P.M. at Moore Funeral Home in Potosi.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 14th at 2 P.M. at Moore Funeral Home with Bro. Leonard Compton officiating.
Burial and final prayers took place at Redbud Memorial Gardens in Potosi. Serving as pallbearers were Steve Hawkins, Brian Rook, Landon Rook, Josh Parmley, Jimmy Beach, Larry Jump, Dave Coleman and Zack Thornton.
All services were under the care and direction of Moore Funeral Home in Potosi.
