Darrell Gene Breakfield

Darrell Gene Breakfield of Potosi was born on November 13, 1960 in Bonne Terre, a son of the late Freddie and Almeda (Hollinsworth) Breakfield. Darrell passed away on Saturday, January 21, 2023, having reached the age of 62.

Those who remain to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 10 years, Baby Breakfield; daughter, Stephanie Pritchard (husband, Wesley "Lester"); granddaughter, Ansley Pritchard; siblings, Mildred Campbell, Vivian (husband, Charles) Ledbetter, David Breakfield (wife, Mary); sisters-in-law, Betty Breakfield, Bessie Breakfield, Margaret Breakfield; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

In addition to his parents, Darrell was preceded in death by his siblings, Beaufard Breakfield, Eddie Breakfield, Virgil Breakfield (wife, Ruth), Russell Breakfield, Montie Breakfield; and brother-in-law, Tom Campbell.

Darrell was a great guy. He loved to hunt and fish, and loved living in the country. He enjoyed working in the mines for 22 years. He loved his family deeply, never judged anybody, and was always a phone call away. There was not a better listener or teacher than him — he was so wise. He was a good provider and a loving person to Baby. When he loved, he loved unconditionally.

A visitation was held on Friday, January 27th from 5 to 8 p.m. at DeClue Funeral Home.

Visitation continued on Saturday, January 28th from 9 a.m. until the time of his service at 11 a.m. at Grassy Hollow Baptist Church, officiated by Pastor Dwight Petete. Interment followed in the Grassy Hollow Baptist Cemetery.
