Washington County Industrial Development Authority Encourages Residents and Businesses to BROADBAND CHALLENGE

Potosi, Mo— January 3, 2023 — Do you need better internet?  According to the Missouri Department of Economic Development, Missourians have until January 13 to participate in the FCC Broadband Map Challenge to help secure funding for local internet coverage.  Local participation is crucial for determining underserved areas and Missouri’s share of more than $42 billion in federal funding through the Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment (BEAD) Program.

The IDA is encouraging all Washington County residents to follow these quick and easy steps:

1)      visit www.fcc.gov

2)      click on the National Broadband Map

3)      Enter your address (residential and/or business)

4)      Fill in the quick form to challenge the location or internet coverage listed

The more “challenges” received from our state and county, the more potential money our area will receive for broadband infrastructure.  If you do not have internet access from a mobile device or at home, you can access this website at the MU Extension Office at 113 N. Missouri Street or by participate in the challenge by calling 573.438.1021.
