Kenneth (Ken) Leroy Payne, 88, of Leadwood, passed away November 13, 2022, at Cedarhurst Assisted Living. He was born November 8,1934, in Salem to the late Quincy and Lillian (Swyers) Payne. Ken proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean war.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his daughter, Carmen (Payne) Christopher; brother, Louie (Mickie) Payne; three sisters, Daphine (Chuck) Dietiker, Betty (Bob) Buxton and Mary Delores (Jay) Rasnick.

Ken is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Mary Ann (Lewis) Payne; two grandchildren, Mindy (Travis) Weber and Kent (Faith) Christopher; son-in-law, Michael Christopher; two great-grandchildren, Carson and Clara; bonus great grandchild, Jonathan; a brother James Howard Payne.

            Ken enjoyed auctions, shooting pool at Sayers Senior Center, driving a tractor, building houses, and spending time with his family. Ken never allowed himself to get bored, having numerous professions during his long life, from insurance agent to pile driver, he was always learning. His most rewarding profession was the years he spent teaching at Leadwood.

Ken was active within the Leadwood community as well. In his younger years, he was President of the Leadwood School Board and has been a proud member of the Leadwood Masonic Lodge #598 for over 50 years.

Visitation was held Wednesday, November 16th from 10 A.M. until time of service at 12 noon at C.Z. Boyer & Son Funeral Home in Desloge with Dr. Todd Buck officiating. Interment followed at Leadwood Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Sayers Senior Center in Potosi.
