Program Will Continue For Kids . . . Christmas For Kids Changes Auction To Online Due To Virus 11/9/2020

November 09, 2020

In 2020, the Life Church is acting as the coordinator for the annual Christmas For Kids program. With the health concerns that everyone is having to deal with, the Auction that was to be held on Saturday, Nov. 21st has become a ‘Virtual Auction’ with items being posted on the organization’s Facebook page.

Pastor Keith King of Life Church said, “After the continued issues concerning the COVID-19 virus, we have decided to hold our Charity Auction online. With the concerns people have being in a social setting, we are encouraging supporters and donors go online and support the auction and to contact us and ‘adopt’ a child or family. By the ‘adoption’ approach, we can get people involved individually and no one will have to worry about any unwanted exposure.”

“We invite you to join us on the internet for our annual fundraising auction from Monday, November 16th through Friday, November 20th.”

The announcement for the change from a live auction to an online one was posted via social media. The announcement said, “After much thought, prayer and seeking advice from those in the health field, we are canceling the in person CFK Auction for this year. Instead we will be doing an online auction event from our CFK Facebook page. The auction will run from November 16-20 with scheduled pick up of items beginning November 21st. The change in auction style this year is due to the spike of COVID-19 cases in our area and we believe it is in the best interest of our supporters health and safety. All bidding ending times will be posted with each item. All bids must be in whole dollar amounts. All items will be posted to the Christmas For Kids Facebook page and not the event page. All bids will be verified by the event host.

Christmas will be here before we know it! It is time for us to start collecting donations for Christmas for Kids. Last year we raised $20,254.92 and helped over 450 children in Washington County have gifts under their Christmas tree to open. Again this year we expect several local children to be in need.

We need your help to make all of this possible. There are many ways for people to help; items and services can be donated to be auctioned off at our online auction, kids can be “adopted” to buy presents for, new toys can be donated, or monetary donations can be made. Checks can be made out to “Christmas for Kids”. If you would like to make a donation, you may mail it or drop if off at the Life Church at 402 N. MIssouri, Potosi, MO 63664, give your donation to any of our committee members listed here, or call Keith King or Mary Pickett at 438-5433 to make arrangements for someone to stop by and pick up the item(s) from you. All proceeds go directly to helping children in Washington County have gifts to open at Christmas.

If you have any questions or suggestions, stop by or call the Life Church office at 438-5433 or contact any of the committee members listed below. You can also find us on Facebook at Washco Christmas-forkids. The Life Church is a 501(c)3 non profit organization.

Again, we thank you for helping children in Washington County during the holiday season. You really do make a difference.
