Terri Lynette (Ankrum) Compton
Terri Lynette (Ankrum) Compton was born on June 27, 1949, in Gassaway, West Virginia, a daughter to Freda Maxine (Bright) Ankrum the late William Joseph Ankrum. On August 6, 2004 Terri was united in marriage to Jerry Compton at the Shirley Union Church in Shirley. She died at her home in Potosi on June 1, 2022 having reached the age of 72 years, 11 months and 5 days.
Terri was preceded in death by her father and brother Richard Kenna Ankrum. She is survived by her husband Jerry Compton; mother, Maxine Ankrum of Westfield, Indiana; brother, Dr. Michael (Barbara) Ankrum of Blacksburg, Virginia; mother-in-law, Norma Compton and brother-in-law, Tony Compton of Potosi; children, Traci (Steve) Bubalo of Westfield, Indiana, Tricia (Robert) Field of Noblesville, Indiana, Sarah Cozort of Blacksburg, Virginia, John (Ally) Cozort of Kansas City, Jeremy (Sarah) Compton of Round Rock, Texas and Matthew Compton of Denver, Colorado; grandchildren Samuel Lambert, Daniel Bubalo, Kevin Bubalo, Michael Bubalo, Alexander “A.J.” Field, Katherine Field, Amelia Field, Kinsie Field, Hallie Ann Field, Esme Cozort-Dailey, Hayden Cozort, Emma Compton, Madeline Compton, Jackson Compton and William Compton; many nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends.
Terri graduated from Gassaway High School in 1967. She was the first woman E.M.T. in Braxton County, West Virginia. Later, she worked at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Virginia as a radio dispatcher for the campus police and as a purchasing clerk in the Food Service Department. Terri received her BS degree in Nutrition and Early Childhood Development from Middle Tennessee State University, spending more than 20 years in education.
A member and elder of the Potosi Presbyterian Church, Terri enjoyed working with children and singing in the choir. She was a warm and caring person, friendly to everyone she met. Terri enjoyed swimming, dancing, reading, sewing and flower gardening. But, most of all, she loved her family. She will be deeply missed.
Memorial visitation for Terri was held Saturday, June 1st from 1 to 3 P.M. at Moore Funeral Home in Potosi.
A memorial service was held Saturday, June 1st at 3 P.M. at Moore Funeral Home with Bro. Leonard Compton and Bro. David Duncan officiating. Burial and final prayers took place at Redbud Memorial Gardens in Potosi.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at 9370 Olive Blvd.; St. Louis, MO 63132.
All services were under the care and direction of Moore Funeral Home in Potosi.
