Phyllis Anne Portell, a loving wife, mom, nana, memaw, sister, aunt and friend, passed away on Wednesday, May 11, 2022 at the age of 73 years, 8 months and 19 days. Phyllis was born on August 22, 1948 at Potosi, a daughter to Bernard Coleman and Dolly (Chamberlain) Coleman.

Phyllis graduated from Potosi High School in 1967. She married the love of her life, Charles Portell on May 4, 1968 and two sons were born to this union. Phyllis and Charles shared nearly 54 years together. Phyllis was devoted to her family and loved every moment they shared together. She and Charles were faithful in attending their sons’ sporting events throughout school. Her grandchildren were her world. Phyllis was a classy lady and was always outgoing. She could talk and visit with anyone for hours. She was a member of St. Joachim Catholic Church in Old Mines. Phyllis will be missed and her memory will be forever cherished.

Those who remain to cherish her memory include her son, Scott Portell (wife, Carolyn); three grandchildren, Blake Portell, Karsten Michael Portell, and Lindsey Portell; dear sisters, Pat Bourbon and Brickey Coleman; brothers-in-law, Randy "Toog" Portell and Francis "Bunny" Portell. Phyllis also leaves behind many special nieces and nephews.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Portell on January 31, 2022; her son Christopher Portell on April 15, 2022; brother, Joe Coleman; and many dear brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

Visitation was held on Friday, May 20th from 5 to 8 P.M. at DeClue Funeral Home. Visitation resumed on Saturday, May 21st from 9 to 10:15 A.M. at the funeral home.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held Saturday, May 21st at 11 A.M. at St. Joachim Catholic Church with Fr. Tony Dattilo officiating. Interment followed in the St. Joachim Cemetery.

*In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the St. Joachim Cemetery.
