37th Annual LA FETE A RENAULT RENDEZVOUS IS THIS WEEKEND

La Brigade A Renault and L ‘Englise Catholique St. Joachim, Old Mines, are ready for the 37th Annual La Fete A Renualt Shoot and Rendezvous this Saturday and Sunday, May 21st and 22nd on the St. Joachim Catholic Church and La Brigade grounds at Old Mines.

The “La Fete a Renault” is named in honour of Philippe Francois Renault of Picardy, France who came here with French and Canadiene miners to mine the rich lead deposits of South-East Missouri.

This year’s Rendezvous is celebrating the opportunity to gather again at the well know and well loved event that has seen every kind of guest (and every kind of weather)!

Everyone is welcome to attend the opening ceremony set for 9-9:30 a.m. The Rendezvous is a great way to learn about local history and the history of the mountain men that called the hills and valleys of Missouri home (before it was Missouri). A variety of displays and exhibits will be set up for the weekend.

Always traditional Blackpowder Rifle Shooting Matches are set for Saturday and Sunday, 10 A.M. to 2 P.M. each day. Event includes Knife, Tomahawk and Fire Start. Designed as competition for flint and percussion rifles - load from pouch, open sights only - off hand. No shaders or chew strap - no re-entry.

Smoothbore - Sun. 10 A.M.-2 P.M.

Primitive Dress required at time of registration - Primitive attire required for participants-Shooters and Campers No Exceptions. No loaded guns in Camp!

Shooter Entry Fees $10 for Men, Women and Juniors Categories for all events.

Primitive Archery Shoot Saturday and Sunday, 10 A.M. to 2 P.M. $10 Entry Fee, Primitive Bows, No Cutouts, Real Feather Fletchings and No Broadheads.

Awards ceremony for all events at approximately 4 P.M. Sunday.

Primitive Camp Sites available on St. Joachim Grounds. There is a $15 Camp Fee (Primitive and Modern) (Includes up to a 6’x6’ blanket.) ($25 for Traders) no setup before 8 A.M. Thursday. Modern Camping available. No campers allowed on grounds after 9 P.M. Sunday evening.

Some firewood and water available. Supper Friday night - for participants only!

Fresh bread from the ovens daily. There will be crafts and entertainment.

Games for Kids -Young and Old on Saturday. No horses allowed on event premises - all dogs on leash at all times. No horses in camp, please.

NO ADMISSION FEE - Open to the public Saturday 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. - Spectators welcome. Plenty of Free Parking. Park in designated areas only!
