David Kingsland

David Hearst Kingsland was born in DeSoto on May 13,1933 a son to Harold Hearst and Sarah Mabel (nee Akins) Kingsland. He died surrounded by his family at his DeSoto home on January 5, 2022 at the age of 88.

David is survived by his wife of 62 years, Bernice G. (nee Wigger) Kingsland; their children, Pamela (Kevin) Lashley of Arnold, Sherry (Don) Golterman of Hillsboro, Suzanne (Mike) Shanks of DeSoto, Michael (Kim) Kingsland of Blackwell and Alan (Julie) Kingsland of DeSoto; twelve grandchildren, Cody Lashley, Camille Lashley, Jacqueline Golterman, Colby (Rachel) Shanks, Erika Shanks, Garrett Shanks, Brittany (Andrew M.) Aubuchon, Kelsey Kingsland, Austin Kingsland, Brycen Kingsland, Allison Kingsland and Alexis Kingsland; four great grandchildren, Maddison Shanks, Paisley Aubuchon, Elsie Aubuchon, and Andrew D. Aubuchon and a sister Lillie Huskey, DeSoto.

He is preceded in death by his parents; a sister Nancy Apple and her husband Shelby; a brother Frank Kingsland and a brother in law Donald Huskey.

David served in the United States Army. He earned a Bachelor’s Degree and Master’s Degree in Education from the University of Missouri-Columbia. He served as a teacher, principal and superintendent in the Sunrise R-IX School District and retired as a Principal for the Hillsboro R-III School District. David was ordained as a deacon for 57 years, he also taught Sunday school classes for many many years. He enjoyed farming and was a member of the First Baptist Church-DeSoto.
