P.H.S. Trojan Marching Band Closed Out A Successful Season In Florida

POTOSI HIGH SCHOOL MARCHING TROJAN BAND – Recently, the Marching Trojans gathered for a group photo, post season, with their trophies and plaques they earned during their competition season. The Trojans had a great year marching with their field show ‘Orpheus in the Underworld’ and parade competitions. They also hosted their 19th Annual Bi-State Marching Band Festival that was enjoyed by the community. The Trojans had a great year marching with their field show ‘Orpheus in the Underworld’ and parade competitions. They also hosted their 19th Annual Bi-State Marching Band Festival that was enjoyed by the community.

The 2021-22 Potosi High School Trojan Marching Band recently concluded a successful year of marching parade and field exhibition in sunny Florida.

The group had started working on their field show “Orpheus in the Underworld” last summer during band camp. The band hours, days and weeks to develop the show before they took it ‘on the road’ during their competitive band schedule last fall.

The Trojans first took the field in competition at the 24th Annual Farmington Marching Invitational on Sept. 18th, 2021. The band took 2nd Place in Class A and also won the Class A Outstanding Percussion award.

The next weekend, Sept. 25th it was on to Sullivan for the 34th Annual Marching Festival Parade & Field Show competition. The Trojans captured 2nd Place in the Blue Division and Outstanding Percussion in the Parade competition. The band took the football field and got 2nd Place in the White Division and an award for Outstanding Visual. The Marching Trojans took 7th Place in the Finals.

The 53rd Annual Washington Band Festival Parade & Field Show was held on Oct. 2nd, 2021. The Trojans took 2nd Place in Class 3A and also the Outstanding Percussion award. On the field, the band was awarded 4th Place inClass 3A for Field Show.

On Saturday, Oct. 9th, the Trojans hosted their annual Bi-State Marching Band Competition with 19 bands in the field show and 5 bands in the parade section. The Potosi Bi-State Invitational had good attendance and very good competition and an overall great day at the Trojan Field complex.

The 53rd Annual Central Rebel Invitational was held on Saturday, Oct. 16th and the Trojans captured 1st Place in Class A along with Outstanding Visual, Outstanding Percussion, Outstanding Music and Outstanding Auxiliary. The Trojans won 7th Place overall in the Finals.

The Trojan Marching Band got to participate in the Champion of Champions Marching Festival at Mizzou on Saturday, Oct. 23rd. The Trojans had a great day in Columbia and came home with a 2nd Place in Class 4A Gold.

On Saturday, Oct. 30th the Trojans again were on the road to Pinckneyville for the Mardi Gras Marching Band Parade & Field Show. The Potosi High students had a great time and swept the day with 1st Place in Class AA in the parade with Outstanding Percussion and also Overall Parade Champion. In the field show competition, the Trojans again claimed top honors with 1st Place in Class AA and Outstanding Color Guard. The Pinckneyville trip wrapped up the regular competition season for the marching band.

The P.H.S. Marching Band entertained the public at the 73rd Annual Twin City Christmas Parade on Monday, Nov. 29th and then again at the Potosi Christmas Parade on Thursday, Dec. 2nd.

The Trojans literally hit the road and took two buses to Florida during their Christmas break to perform in the Outback Bowl Field Show Festival on Dec. 30th. The Trojans were chosen the field show Grand Champions and won the opportunity to perform part of their ‘Orpheus’ show during the pre-game of the Outback Bowl.

On New Year’s Eve, the Marching Band hit the street and performed in the Outback Bowl NYE Parade in Ybor City, Florida. The Trojans won the 1st Place ‘Crowd Pleaser’ Award for their performance.

The P.H.S. students got to be on the field to open the Outback Bowl festivities and also participated in the ‘Mass Band’ performance at half time at the game in Tampa, Florida.

The students, band directors, parents and friends all had a great time while on the trip to Florida. (And it was reported they even brought everyone back!)

The Trojan Marching Band expressed their thanks for all the support throughout the season from the Potosi Trojan Band Boosters and a variety of sponsors that helped along the way. The group wanted to express a special thanks to the parents who worked tirelessly to help make the year so much fun as well as some of the businesses that did that ‘little extra’ like LaRue Water, CS Design, Boyer Lumber, SouthPaw Grafix, Melton’s Tees and all of the Bi-State Sponsors.

The Trojan Marching Band is proud to represent the community both on the road and at home.

Trojan Seniors that celebrated their final season as Marching Trojans include Isabella Bohr, Brandi Compton, Matti Cook, Austin Gibson, Chase Glore, Hailey Hettenhausen, Trinity Huffman, Caleb Lawson, Zoey Long, Miciala Marler, Belle Pyatt, Aimee Radford, James Snider, Clara Wands, Robby Wells and Brandon Wooley.

Band Directors are Jordan Simms and Odell Jackson and the Color Guard Coordinator is Emily Cinciripini. The Drum Majors for the seas are Chase Glore, Jasmine Caruthers and Hope Miner.

Congratulations to the Marching Trojans on a great year and making so many memories. Remember, once your ‘in the band’ you’re always ‘in the band’! Go Trojans!
