Potosi High School Football Homecoming Welcomes Rebels This Friday, Sept. 24th
It is time for Football Homecoming and Potosi High School is in its celebration week in conjunction with the Potosi vs Central football game this Friday evening. The theme for the P.H.S. Homecoming festivities is “ Trojans With Style ”.
Special “Spirit Week” activities are being enjoyed by P.H.S. students each day this week leading up to the big celebration on Friday. Spirit days this week are:
Monday: ‘Put the Rebels to sleep’, students wore pajamas to class.
Tuesday: ‘Trojans Rep the Red, White and Blue better than the Rebels’, Students wore patriotic colors and showed their American pride!
Wednesday: ‘Trojan Team is Rad’. Students dressed like a dad or wore sports jerseys.
Thursday: ‘Kicking the Rebels back in time’, Throwback Thursday: Students to wear mismatched clothes and/or dress like the past.
Friday: ‘Show your Trojan Pride’, Everyone’s to wear purple and gold.Students please remember that dress code must be followed at all times.
On Friday, Sept. 24th, the Powder Puff game will be held at approximately 9 a.m. at the P.H.S. Football Stadium - ‘Trojan Field’.
The Homecoming Maids (selected by their respective classes) and the Homecoming King and Queen will be announced at the Homecoming Assembly that day in the school gymnasium.
After the assembly, the Homecoming Court will ride in the parade through downtown Potosi.
The parade begins at approximately 1:45 p.m. with Mr. Gary Mims, longtime Potosi R-3 P.E. Teacher, AND Mrs. Carol Mims, longtime Potosi R-3 ELA teacher as the Grand Marshalls.
The formal Coronation Ceremony for the Queen, King and Maids will be held Friday evening at approximately 6:20 p.m. at the P.H.S. Football Stadium prior to the 7 p.m. kickoff of the game.
All community organizations and businesses are welcome to participate in the parade. Any groups that would like to enter a float, truck, etc. should contact Kathryn Christopher at Potosi High School (573-438-2156). CANDY IS NOT TO BE THROWN FROM THE FLOATS.
All community / city floats and school floats will line up at the Potosi High School this year.
The P.H.S. Homecoming Committee would greatly appreciate Trojan colors of Purple and Gold decorations by businesses along the parade route. This year the parade will begin at Potosi High School and proceed up Mine Street to High Street and through the downtown area ending at First State Bank.
The Varsity Trojans will host the Central Rebels for the Homecoming contest, starting at 7 p.m.
The Trojan Marching Band will be on hand to entertain the crowd and celebrate the Homecoming half-time.
Immediately following the game, students and invited guests will enjoy music and dancing at the Homecoming Dance in the high school’s cafeteria. The dance will end at 11 p.m. and concessions will be available for purchase.
