Leatha Peyton

Leatha Anita (Province) Peyton of Potosi was born April 22, 1924 in Irondale, a daughter to the late Walter M. Province and Annie (Anderson) Province. Leatha departed this life Sunday, June 6, 2021 having reached the age of 97 years, 1 month and 15 days.

On August 9, 1941, Leatha was united in marriage to the late John C. Peyton and they shared many wonderful memories together.

Leatha is survived by her sons, Jim Peyton and wife Kathleen of High Ridge, Steve Peyton and wife Nancy of Mineral Point; sisters, LeEtta D’Anthony of St. Louis, Gail Lawson of Potosi, Donna Barron and husband Gerald of Belgrade; brothers, Walter “Sonny” Province and wife Shirley of Irondale, Jerry Province and wife Bonnie of Irondale; grandchildren, Sherri (Todd) Winn, Jerry (Kathy) Peyton, Paul (Amanda) Peyton; great grandchildren, Keifer Winn, Dakota Winn, Justin Peyton, Samantha Peyton; six great great grandchildren, including her little helper “J.J.” Missey, and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

In addition to her parents and loving husband, Leatha was preceded in death by her sisters, Gladys Cone and Erma Province.
Leatha had a very giving heart and always put others before herself. She was a lifelong member of the Irondale Church of the Nazarene and always kept her faith. She loved working around her home and kept a well-manicured flower garden that was admired by all. The everlasting memories she gave will be treasured by all who loved her.

Visitation for Leatha was held Thursday, June 10th from 4 to 8 P.M. at Moore Funeral Home in Potosi.

Funeral services were held Friday, June 11th at 11 A.M. at Moore Funeral Home with Pastor Bob Pyatt officiating.

Burial and final prayers took place at Big River Cemetery in Irondale. Serving as pallbearers were Ed Politte, Jerry Peyton, Paul Peyton, Justin Peyton, Todd Winn and Conner Missey.

All services were under the care and direction of Moore Funeral Home in Potosi.
