Mary Gibson

Mary Frances (DeClue) Gibson was born April 15, 1931 in Potosi a daughter to the late Ellen Elizabeth (Moon) and Benjamin Francis DeClue. Mary departed this life Thursday, June 3, 2021 having reached the age of 90 years, 1 month and 19 days.

On April 17, 1949, Mary was united in marriage to the late Charles Gibson and together they happily raised their children and were blessed with many years.

Mary is survived by her daughters, Rose Duncan and husband Lloyd of Union, Ruby Ellen Bird of Union, Carol Lewis of Potosi; son, Charles Thomas Gibson and wife Joyce of Potosi; son-in-law, Charles Walther; sixteen grandchildren. twenty-five great grandchildren, several great great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews other relatives and special friends.
In addition to her parents and loving husband, Mary was preceded in death by her daughters, Charlotte Stroup, Ruthie Walther; grandchildren, Heather Walther, Jared Bays, Daniel Walther; great granddaughter, Natasha Pankey and brothers, Benjamin DeClue, Leo DeClue and Melvin DeClue.

Mary had a kind and caring heart, always having others in her thoughts and daily prayers. She always prayed for her family, past and present. She always gave the advice to anyone who was going through difficult times to just give it to God and let him do his job. She was a faithful member of the St. James Catholic Church and dedicated her life to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at a young age.

She was a member of the Ladies Sodality, St. Vincent DePaul Society and helped with the church picnic. She considered it an honor to care for the priests’ garments and carefully cleaned and sewed anything that needed mending. Being alone with Jesus was her favorite time and she prayed the Rosary every day. Her love and solid example of faith will be missed by those who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Visitation for Mary was held Sunday, June 6th from 4-8 p.m. at Moore Funeral Home in Potosi with a Rosary service Sunday evening at 7 P.M. led by Glen Gelhot.

Funeral services were held Monday, June 7th at 11 A.M. at St. James Catholic Church in Potosi with Father Richard Tillman officiating.

Burial and final prayers took place at Calvary Cemetery in Potosi. Serving as pallbearers were Cody Gibson, Bryan Walther, Justin Walther, Scott Walther, Brian Walther and Cole Gibson.

All services were under the care and direction of Moore Funeral Home in Potosi, Missouri.
