Leo Benson

Leo Benson of Mineral Point was born on March 17, 1940 in Potosi, a son of the late Alfred Jerome and Lucy Alberta (Wilkinson) Benson. Leo departed this life on Monday, February 15, 2021 at his home having reached the age of 80 years, 10 months and 29 days.

Leo is survived by three children, Tony (wife, Pam) Benson, Angie Benson, Stephen Benson; three grandchildren, William (wife, Brittany) Benson, Ryan (wife, Bethany) Benson and Stephanie Willard; a great-granddaughter, Finley Grace Benson, three siblings, Robert (wife, Peggy) Benson, Johnny (wife, Karen) Benson, and Erma Butery; special nieces, Beverly Strong, Teresa Benson and Sheena Benson; also surviving are many other nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Leo was preceded in death by his father and mother, Alfred and Birddie Benson, two infant brothers, Stanley and Paul Benson; three siblings, Alfred Lenro (wife, Betty) Benson, Joseph "Bud" (wife, June) Benson, and Diane (husband, Dodo) Boyet; brother-in-law, Ralph Butery; and many other relatives.

Visitation was held on Sunday, February 21st from 5 to 8 p.m. at DeClue Funeral Home. Visitation resumed on Monday, February 22nd from 9 to 11 a.m.

A funeral service was held on Monday, February 22nd at 11 a.m. in the DeClue Memorial Chapel with Pastor Robert Thurman officiating. Interment followed at Sunset Hill Cemetery.
