James Edgar Morris Sr., also loving known to family and friends as Ed, was born on May 30, 1935, a son of the late Edgar and Corine (Grimes) Morris. Ed passed away on September 18, 2022, having reached the age of eighty-seven years, three months, and nineteen days.

On October 11, 1958, Ed was united in marriage to Betty Akers at Temple Baptist Church in Belgrade and they spent nearly 64 years together.

Those who remain to cherish his memory include his wife, Betty Morris; children, James E Morris Jr. (wife, Dixie Lee), Diann Jenkins (husband, Joe); grandchildren, Joshua Jenkins, James Tucker Morris; great-granddaughter, Makayla Mathis; sister, Jeannette Koen; brothers-in-law, James Dale Holdman, and Les McCord; special lifelong friend, Charles Olmstead.

In addition to his parents, Ed was preceded in death by his siblings: Joyce Holdman, Ruth Ann McCord; and brother-in-law, John Koen.

Ed never met a stranger and loved to talk to anybody. He enjoyed working on old cars and lawnmowers. One of his best projects he did was helping Jimmy restore a 1970 Monte Carlo. Also, loved to go fly fishing, especially out west in Montana at Fish Creek. When he had an opportunity, he enjoyed hunting elk and mule deer out west, as well as vacationing in Montana and Wyoming. When he was younger, he was saved at Esther Baptist Church.

Visitation for Ed was Thursday, September 22nd from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at DeClue Funeral Home. A funeral service was conducted immediately after the visitation at 1 p.m. officiated by Elder Leonard Compton. Interment  followed at Caledonia Methodist Cemetery in Caledonia.

DeClue Funeral Home was honored to have served and ministered to the family and friends of Mr. Ed Morris.
