Francis James Coleman, known by family as friends as “Jimmy” or “Bootsie”, of Cadet, was born July 26, 1951 in Ironton, a son to the late Edgar “Boots” Francis Coleman and Rosie Jane (Sanders) Coleman. Jimmy departed this life Wednesday, June 15, 2022 having reached the age of 70 years, 10 months and 20 days.
On July 3, 1976, Jimmy was united in marriage to Rose L. Boyer and for 45 years they never left each other’s side.
Jimmy is survived by his devoted wife of 45 years, Rose; brothers, Wayne Coleman and wife Kathy of Cadet, Tracy Coleman of Cadet; brothers-in-law, Joseph and Karen Boyer of Mineral Point, Kenny Boyer of Cadet, James “Tinker” Boyer of Cadet; sister-in-law, Shirley Ramsey of Farmington and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and nephews, other relatives and dear and special friends.
In addition to his parents, Jimmy was preceded in death by his brothers, Vincent and William, Dennis “Ding” Coleman and sister, Nora “Elizabeth” Henry.
Jimmy had a big heart and never met a stranger. He loved dressing up as Santa Claus for local businesses and visiting children. Seeing children smile brought him great joy. During the warmer months he spent the majority of time outdoors hunting, fishing, and visiting with friends and family. He also enjoyed cigars and smoking his pipe. No matter the trials he faced in life, he always stood by his faith in Christ. He will be greatly missed by those who had the privilege of knowing him.
Visitation for Jimmy was held Monday, June 20th from 4 to 8 P.M. at Moore Funeral Home in Potosi. Visitation resumed Tuesday morning from 8:30 to 9:30 A.M. at Moore Funeral Home.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 21st at 10 A.M. at St. Joachim Catholic Church in Old Mines with Father Tony Dattilo officiating.
Burial and final prayers took place at St Joachim Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Clayton Vance, Jeff Boyer, Daelyn Wickerham, Richie Morris, Jeremiah Compton, Christopher Boyer.
All services were under the care and direction of Moore Funeral Home in Potosi.
