Monica Ann Pashia of Old Mines was born July 12, 1937 in Racola, a daughter to the late Lawrence Z. Pashia and Anna L. (Robart) Pashia. Monica departed this life on Thursday, January 13, 2022, having reached the age of 84 years, 6 months and 1 day.
Monica is survived by her daughter, Maria Boyer and husband Jeff of Cadet; son, Mark Pashia and Jess Nichols of Potosi; sisters, Mary Norbut of Cadet, Theresa and husband Dan Wickerham of DeSoto; brothers, Paul and Yvonne Pashia of Sierra Vista, AZ, Francis Pashia of Cadet, John and Marilyn Seabaugh of Pevely and James and Mary Beth Pashia of Kanab, UT; six grandchildren, Colleen and Richard Perris, Jacie and Dustin Coleman, Kara and Cole Richards, Lacey and Levi Berry, Gracie and Ethan Jones and Austin; thirteen great grandchildren, Layne, Max, Colt, Makenna, Maebry, Liam, Hadley, Barrett, Gannon, Taytum, Remi, Clayton and Zane and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear and special friends.

Monica was preceded in death by her brother, Larry and wife Mary Ann Pashia of Hazelwood.

Monica’s love for her parish and her faith was strong and she dedicated her life to serving others and the Lord, her Savior. Her love of serving others began in 1955. She worked as an elementary school teacher in Kansas, California and Texas under the auspices of the Sisters of St. Joseph. In 1968, she attained her license to be a nurse and was called to help with the Vietnam War. During the war, she worked as a Psychiatric Nurse for the United States Army as well as an OB-GYN. After the war, she worked in many hospitals including Mineral Area Hospital from 1988-2002. She also worked for Kingston K-14 as a school nurse for 10 years. She was an active member of St. Joachim Church in Old Mines and a member of the St. Vincent DePaul Society. She was an Oblate with the Rural Parish Workers of Christ the King, often visiting the sick, and working with many community activities. She loved unconditionally and kept those she loved in her thought and prayers. She listened to the Lord and shared his Word wherever she went. Her family was her greatest treasure and she loved them with all her heart. Her loving heart, kindness and dedication to others will be greatly missed by those who loved her.
Visitation for Monica was held Monday, January 17th from 4 to 8 P.M. at Moore Funeral Home in Potosi. Visitation resumed Tuesday January 18th from 8:30 to 9:45 A.M. at Moore Funeral Home in Potosi.
Funeral services were held Tuesday January 18th at 10 A.M. at St. Joachim Catholic Church in Old Mines with Fr. James Hanson and Decon Ed Boyer officiating.
Burial and final prayers took place at St. Joachim Catholic Church Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Richard Perris, Brian Johnston, Jason Creduer, Mark Pashia, Kevin Politte, Dustin Coleman, Will Allen and Levi Berry. In lieu of flowers, memorial donation may be made to the Rural Parish Workers or Kingston School Scholarship Fund.
All services were under the care and direction of Moore Funeral Home in Potosi.
