Jerry Atwood Bennett

Jerry Atwood Bennett of Cadet passed away Friday, September 10, 2021 due to a tragic accident in Washington County at the age of 70 years, 3 months and 6 days. He was born June 4, 1951 in St. Louis to Ira Edward Bennett and Ruby Meador.  Jerry was united in marriage to Marsha Stausebach on June 15, 1985 in Barnhart.

He served his country honorably in the U.S. Air Force from 1970-1974. Jerry was of the Baptist faith.  He was employed at Arcadia K&D Crushers and after retiring, he drove the bus for SMTS in Potosi.

 He enjoyed hunting and fishing, watching NASCAR and just being home sitting on the front porch.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ira Bennett and mother, Ruby (Charles) Laramore; son, Jerry Eugene Bennett; step-daughter, Amanda Green; half-brother, Gene Bennett; and brother-in-law, Richard Williams.

He will be sadly missed by his wife of thirty-six years, Marsha Bennett of Cadet; a daughter, Sheri (Donnie) Krodringer of DeSoto; stepson, Kenny Froud of Fenton; a half-brother, Jim (companion Linda Vaughn) Bennett of Marble Hill; sisters-in-law, Dellene (Jim) Spegal of DeSoto and Diana Williams of Park Hills; brother-in-law, James (Beverly) Brock of Park Hills; two grandchildren, Luke and Gabe; two step-grandchildren, Kenley and Bailey; other relatives; and friends.

The family received friends from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Wednesday, September 15th at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville.

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, September 15th at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville with Rev. Jimmy Brown officiating. Special music of “Dancing in the Sky”, “Since I Lost You”, “Peace in the Valley” and “Go Rest High” was played.

Committal prayer and interment with full military honors by the U.S. Air Force were in the Lower Indian Creek Cemetery, Viburnum. “Go Rest High” was sung and played on guitar by Snoopy Eckhoff. Closing prayer was by Elijah Bennett.

The Bennett Family was served by the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home of Steelville.
